To all members:
As of June 4th, 2009 we are officially on boycott status.
In the past Activision has been guilty of milking good franchises to the point of becoming stale (like Tony Hawk and now Guitar Hero). Then they started buying companies and killing off franchises that they feel they can't "exploit for sequels". Now they're trying to put a halt to Brutal Legend, one of the titles they previously didn't want, by suing Double Fine Studios (the game's developer).
We can't stand by this any longer. Effective immediately, we are no long buying new copies of select Activision products. Some have suggested a partial boycott that only affects Guitar Hero or Call of Duty titles. Others have suggested a complete and total boycott, including Blizzard, which would mean canceling WoW accounts and not buying Starcraft 2 or Diablo 3. I've been told that part of Activision's acquisition of Blizzard means they can't touch it, so some are boycotting all but Blizzard titles. What you boycott is up to you, but the idea for now is to target key products for Activision, which means AT LEAST boycotting Guitar Hero, which is their top-selling franchise at the moment.
The subject of buying used games has come up, and again this is up to you. I know we won't be able to stop all Activision purchases, and purchasing a used title means that none of your money has gone into Activision's hands, so this is a neutral area. In that light, Gamefly would be acceptable as well, especially with the purchase of used games. But any and all direct download purchases, including DLC, is absolutely out of the question.
In summary, the boycott comes in three flavors:
1) Just the Guitar Hero franchise
2) All Activision titles except Blizzard products
3) A complete and total boycott of ALL Activision products
This will be reposted in another thread for discussion.

edit: Yes, I know we have no terms yet. I thought it best that we all decide on that. I think it'd be fair to stop when they end their lawsuit, as well as come up with three new franchises in one calendar year. What do you think?
